Bell county Cleaning company offers free service for women with cancer

We are proud to announce that Maids and Moore Cleaning Services in Bell County, was featured on KWTX 10 news to make our community aware that we are offering free cleanings thru a non-profit organization for women battling cancer.

Maids and Moore partnered up with Cleaning For A Reason in 2008 and has been able to serve over 50 women over our three divisions in Bell, Travis, and Montgomery Counties by providing up to 4 free cleanings to our patient.

Mr. Stanley Hilbig is the husband of our previous patient, Joan Hilbig, who lost her battle with cancer 6 months ago.  He said his wife used Maids and Moore while she was being treated for cancer and the last thing she wanted to do while she was being treated was to clean the house.

During our time of service to the Hilbigs, Joan left our maids the most uplifting compliments and her husband Stanley said that the both of them greatly appreciated our services as we were able to do the things the way she liked them that he was not quite able to do.

“The maids did an awesome job…. I was very impressed and they did an amazing job…. If i were to rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 I would give them a 5 being awesome. I am very happy and gratefull for all of your help!” ~Joan Hilbig

“Wonderful the girls did a wonderful job. I am grateful to have Maids and Moore help me. The girls are very pleasant and thorough.” ~Joan Hilbig

“Great job. The maids are really nice and did a nice job.”    ~Joan Hilbig

Preparing for a Festive Memorial Day Weekend

FullSizeR

If you’re like us the clean up for guests is just as important as the clean up for when they leave.  We wanted to offer a few tips to make your Memorial Day Weekend the best, without all of the hassles.

Put away all towels:  To save you from having to keep putting out clean hand towels thru out the house as it is used to clean up messes and dry multiple sets of hands.  Simply stock up on a bulk order of paper towels and leave rolls everywhere convenient.  This way you are not washing every towel and rag in your whole house come Tuesday.  Nothing like getting ready for getting out of the shower to the surprise of no towels clean.

No need to wash dishes: To save you from having to wash mountains of dishes.  Purchase disposable containers and utensils to serve in.

~To take that one step further instead of preparing all the food. Ask friends and family to bring their favorite dish in a disposable container this way you don’t have to prepare it and when the yummy dish is gone you can throw it away instead of having to be the sweet host that cleans everyone’s favorite one of a kind casserole dish.

*TIP from the editor: One of my personal favorite hacks, is instead of having chip bags toppled over everywhere and countless bowls for every flavor sitting out that will then need to be poured back in the bag or thrown out.  I simply fold in the bottom of the chip bag and make a bowl.  See an example from Pinterest here

Trash Gone Wild!: Trash will be everywhere. Unless you plan ahead.  Place a container for trash in every imaginable place possible to encourage party guest to throw away their trash.  By placing the cans around the tables, coolers, and food it will encourage them to throw away as they grab another.

Guest have left what is next?:  Now that your guest are gone. What messes do you have left?  Dirty floors, sticky little kid finger prints on ‘EVERYTHING’, and urine on everything but the toilet.  Who has time for that ?…. Don’t worry we have you covered.  Call us today to get things back in order.  We specialize in “Creating time for busy people”.  By hiring professionals you will be able to get back to your routine and workflow without the hassle.  After all, school is about to be out for Summer ;D. Who knows maybe routine services are just what you need to get back in that routine!  Call us at 1-844 GOT DUST we would love to help you with your house cleaning needs.

How to Kid proof for summer break

FullSizeR

With the final school bell rung, end of year class parties over, and summer arrangements final that is right School is Out for Summer.  If you are like us the dread and overwhelming anticipation has set in.  No worries here are a few tips to kid proof for the summer.

Step ONE

Plan all meals.  Create a drawer or shelf in your pantry for snacks only.  If children are old enough to make their own meals, brainstorm with them a few meals they can prepare for themselves during the week without burning the house down.

Step TWO

To avoid the dreaded sentence, “I am bored…”  sit down with your kids and ask them some things they would like to do this summer.  Without dismissing any of their ideas, write them down then brainstorm and sort our your list with your significant other what things you can do for the summer.  Another avenue would be to implement activities they can do on their own each day. Our personal favorite would be The Bored Jar. Write down the activities mentioned above that they like to do or would like to do and add a few.  Anytime the kids are bored send them to The Bored Jar.  The internet offers many options or you can always follow us on Pinterest to see some of our favorites: https://www.pinterest.com/maidsandmoore/maids-and-moore/

Step THREE

Chores.  Yes, while controversial with some, chores are a wonderful part of a routine. Like going to school, it keeps the children accountable and on schedule.  Chores build character, teaching them to be responsible and certainly rule out boredom. Not to mention it take some of the mommy do list items away.  Make a list of chores to do for each child and as incentive offer allowances or getting to do their choice of something fun.  If you have multiple children accomplishing chores each week find an activity that will make all of them happy.

Step FOUR

Overwhelmed still….? Consider hiring professional services to help you with things such as babysitting, lawn care, and house cleaning.  Maids and Moore will be happy to help you take a load off with all of your house, carpet, and window cleaning needs.  The benefit of hiring a professional to do what ‘you do not have the time to do’ is the guarantee.  With so much up in the air during summer break, it is nice to have quality service to help you “create time” for the things that matter most to you.

Natural and Fresh Cleaning

Are you looking for an all natural, heavy duty cleaner for your home that will not fill the air with mystery chemicals?  Look no further…. are you ready for this?  It is Vinegar
Here at Maids and Moore, we have found vinegar to be the safest, natural cleaner for most surfaces.  It works great on glass, mirrors, toilets, tubs, and many more non-porous surfaces.
To make this even better we dare you to take it one step further… I know most of us typically do not like the smell of the vinegar so there is a way to kill that smell and make the vinegar even better for cleaning your home.  Simply infuse it with other natural elements that God blessed this earth with.
That’s right, today we are doing to tell you how to infuse and stay green while cleaning.
You mean cleaning machine you!
IMG_3977
First thing is first lets get our supplies together.  You will need the following:
*Large glass jars (mason jars, pickle jars, etc.) we like to use quart canning jars but any jar will work
*White Vinegar
*herbs, citrus peels (sage, basil, orange, mint, lemon, etc.)
IMG_3972
Wash your jars and fill them with your herbs and citrus.  Experiment here mix and mingle what you think would work best.   Now combine about 2 cups of heated (nearly boiling) vinegar to your jar.  Let sit for about 24 hours and it should be ready to use.  If you want the good new scent to be stronger let it sit longer before use.   When ready to use, strain the peels and herbs out of the mixture and discard, only leaving the new scented vinegar.  To keep it from going bad store it in a cool dark place.
You can use this infused vinegar to clean in several ways such as cleaning the window, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, garbage disposal or even as a pet odor remover, fabric softner, pest control and much much more.  A few of our favorites are below.  Enjoy!

How to use your infused Vinegar for cleaning your home
*Toilet Cleaner
~  Spray the toilet inside and out and let sit for 30 minutes allowing the vinegar to do its magic.  Then simply wipe off the vinegar and tada clean, fresh, and deodorized.
*Shower and Tubs
~Spray the shower/tub with the infused vinegar and allow it to sit for 30 minutes or longer.  Come back with a cup of water and sponge and all of the soap scum and sludge will wipe right off.
*Garbage Disposal
~Freeze your infused vinegar in an ice tray and drop a few of these in the garbage disposal and grind them up it will remove all of the yuck off the walls and blades of your dishwasher removing unwanted smells and yuck.  Repeat weekly for best results.
*Floors ( DO NOT use on porous floors such as wood, stone, marble, and granite surfaces. Vinegar will dry out and damage these floor types and surfaces)
~This infused vinegar is best used on non-porous floors such as tile.  It just does wonders.  Mix 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water to a spray bottle.  Using a dry micro mop lightly spray a 4-foot space with your infused vinegar and mop moving thru the floor surface cleaning away and deodorizing those floors with the amazing aroma the new infused vinegar is putting off.
DISCLOSURE       DO NOT use vinegar on any porous floors or surfaces such as wood, stone, marble, and granite surfaces. Vinegar will dry out and damage these floor types and surface

Neglect because we forget..!

Most of us are as busy as all get out, running from one event to the next. Trying to care for every part of our home can be a task. I mean if the trash needs to go out we take it out. Dishes stacking up we wash them. Scrub the toilet and pick up dirty clothes and wash them. Have you thought though about the trash can your trash goes in? The dishwasher storing your clean dishes? Just imagine how easily these things get neglected. So to help we have included a few tips as to why you should clean these and when.

IMG_2579 (1)

Dishwasher:
Should be cleaned quarterly if not monthly. By doing so you lessen your chances of food poisoning and build up of germs and bacteria. Dirt, food, and grease all build up in dishwasher over time and if water that drips does not drain it sours and spoils your clean dishes and your stomach.

How: Weekly remove the filter, soak, and clean it.  Run a heavy cycle with vinegar in the soap dispenser and baking soda sprinkled inside of the machine. Good as new!

Indoor Trash Can:
Clean every 2 months if not monthly. Trash tends to spill over and leak out causing your trash can to get sticky, smelly, and grow bacteria.

How: Take your trash can to the bath/shower and rinse it with warm soapy water. You can also spray it down well with a good antibacterial cleaner and be sure to wipe the inside, outside, and bottom.

Washing Machine:
This guy does so much for your household so monthly we clean it. Just like parents if we don’t reboot and charge we will burn out so do a courtesy to your faithful friend the washing machine. This inside of the washing machine will start to develop buildup which keeps the water from filtering and draining properly.

How: With the machine running hot water add a quart of bleach to the detergent dispenser. Let this run full cycle. Be sure to clean all compartments seals and hinges by hand these areas must be clean to prevent mold and bacteria growth from the moisture. Doing this monthly will keep you from the laundry mat.

fridge1

Refrigerator:
Should be cleaned quarterly if not monthly. By doing so you lessen your chances of food poisoning and build up of germs and bacteria. Not to mention from keep dust from building up on the coils and under the fridge causing moisture to damage the floors and the machine.

How: Pull out all drawers and soak them in warm soapy water. Clean the inside of the fridge with a rag or sponge using baking soda and vinegar on hard stains and yucky dried on food. Now, pull out the fridge vacuum and wipe down the wall behind the fridge, the back and side of the fridge, and the floor where it sits. Tada! Fresh and Clean and damage free.

Garbage Disposal:

Pew!! What is that smell..? It is your garbage disposal. The plastic rings and the disposal itself collect old food and bacteria. Using ice knocks off the buildup off the walls and blades of the disposal.

How: Freeze lemon juice and drop a few cubes down the drain weekly and turn her on. You may also like to use frozen vinegar either or.

We hope a few of these tips will help
